February 4, 2022. The Court in Roseville Employees’ Retirement System, et al. v. Apple Inc., et al. (Northern District of California) certified a class of Apple stock investors who allegedly sustained losses caused by Apple misrepresenting how its products were faring in China. Professor Steven Feinstein of Babson College and Crowninshield Financial Research, Inc. conducted research and provided expert testimony establishing that Apple stock traded in an efficient market, and that damages sustained by Apple stock investors could be computed for all class members using a common methodology. On March 28, 2023, citing the research and testimony provided by Professor Donald Chance of Louisiana State University, the Court modified the class certification order to include Apple call option buyers and put option sellers.
